Lewis Franco: News

Finished recording a new CD! December 22, 2010

Lewis Franco & The Missing Cats have a new CD coming out some time soon, probably April or May of 2011.  We finished recording with Colin McCaffrey  at his studio in early December.  He was stupendous, as always.  Then we mastered the thing at Lane Gibson’s

We put one of the tunes on the Songs page of this website for you to download for free and have as your very own.  Or stream.  It’s also available in low-fi in case you have weak stream.  Ha, ha. It’s called Slapstick Comedy, based on a true story of Lewis falling off of an 8-foot retaining wall last May (it was pitch dark, he didn’t know it was there, don’t give him a hard time, ok?).  Hope you like it.  If you want to get in line for a CD, send an email to [email protected] .

We’re on a Putumayo compliation! February 2, 2010

Exciting news!  One the songs from our most recent record got included on a Putumayo compilation CD.  It’s called Stomp, Stomp and it was on Swingin’ in Daddyland.  Now it will also be on Jazz Playground, which comes out March 9th on the Putumayo Kids label.  They happened to pick one of the few tunes that I did not actually write (it was written in the 1930’s by The Cats & The Fiddle), so I won’t be able to retire off this.  But I’m psyched anyway.

Here’s some info about the CD, and about a tour that Putumayo has put together, in case you have friends in any of these cities.

One of three most popular CDs! December 23, 2007

Today’s Montpelier Times-Argus reports that our disc is one of the three top sellers in town. There’s a photo of it right next to Robert Plant/Alison Krauss and Grace Potter: Pretty good company, eh?
